Behind the dorsal and anal fins there are 5-6 finlets. Banyar mackerel has a greenish blue color on the top and a yellowish white bottom. Two rows of black spots on the back, one black spot near the pectoral fin. Dark tires extend above the lateral line, two golden tires below the lateral line. Dorsal fin yellowish grey.
