The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is increasing Indonesia’s fisheries export market to Europe by participating in the Seafood Expo Global (SEG) which will be held in Barcelona, Spain on 25-27 April 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this exhibition, which was attended by more than 77 countries, Indonesia brought superior products such as shrimp, crab, crab, tuna, tilapia, as well as squid, cuttlefish and octopus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SEG, the largest seafood exhibition in the world, is expected to be a momentum for recovery and increasing exports of Indonesian fishery products on the global market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Especially in the European and European Union markets,” said Director General for Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) Budi Sulistiyo in a written statement in Jakarta, Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spain is the main hub for the entry of world fishery products into the markets of the European Union and the Mediterranean region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In fact, in the last five years, Spain contributed an average of 18.6 percent of the European Union’s fishery product imports or a value of 6.14 billion US dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Marketing Director of the Directorate General of PDSPKP Erwin Dwiyana explained that in the last 5 years, Indonesia’s average market share in the European Union was 1.1 percent or worth 367 million US dollars out of the average total European Union imports which reached 36.68 billion dollars. US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This figure is still far behind when compared to China’s average market share in the European Union of 6.2 percent, Vietnam’s 3.5 percent and India’s 2.9 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
KKP also facilitated 11 exporters in the Indonesian Pavilion who attended this exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apart from that, increasing market access in the European Union through strengthening cooperation with partners such as the Swiss Import Promotion Program (SIPPO-Swiss), Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI-UNIDO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, collaboration with Indonesian representatives in Barcelona and Madrid, including the Indonesian Embassy, Trade Attach\u00e9, and the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center Ministry (ITPC) Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Erwin also hopes that Indonesia’s participation in SEG will be able to generate potential transactions of at least 50 million US dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
